CTL Releases the Latest Version of VoiceSupport™ NT
Major upgrades include Web Browser, Increased Port Capacity and SpeechWorks Solutions
Shelton, CT—May 31, 2001—CTL, Inc., a world leading provider of voice processing systems, is pleased to announce the release of its VoiceSupport™ NT, Version software 2.03, CTL's Windows NT integrated desktop messaging product. VoiceSupport™ NT 2.03 includes support for text-to-speech, Internet Web Browser and extended port capacity.
Text-to-Speech
VoiceSupport™ NT uses the SpeechWorks ETI-Eloquence™ text-to-speech engine from SpeechWorks International, Inc. (NASDAQ: SPWX), a leader in speech technology. The engine converts written text into high-quality synthesized speech with expressive intonation. ETI-Eloquence is available in thirteen different languages including US English, Mexican Spanish, Canadian French and Brazilian Portuguese. Each language offers a variety of customizable voices, including male, female and child, all of which provide accurate, highly intelligible and natural-sounding pronunciations. ETI-Eloquence is widely respected for providing sophisticated, context-sensitive analysis of the text input so it easily handles homonyms, email addresses, URLs and proper nouns, such as surnames and street addresses.
“CTL already has had a lot of success using SpeechWorks® 6.5 speech recognition software in VoiceSupport™ NT for automated attendant speech recognition, therefore it was an easy decision to go with SpeechWorks for a high quality text-to-speech solution. Using ETI-Eloquence from SpeechWorks, VoiceSupport NT allows a user to listen to email over the telephone. The user can then decide to respond to the email using their voice in a .wav file, save it, delete it, or forward it to a co-worker.”
“SpeechWorks is delighted to have partnered with CTL for SpeechWorks 6.5, our core speech recognition software product and, now, the ETI-Eloquence text-to-speech engine,” said Steve Chambers, vice president of worldwide marketing for SpeechWorks. “ETI-Eloquence offers an attractive solution for global communications providers like CTL. The text-to-speech engine is offered in multiple languages and delivers a high quality speech output with low memory requirements, fast execution speed and flexible user options.”
ETI-Eloquence makes content as accessible from a telephone or any mobile device as it is from today’s computer-based Web browsers. “Users today are more mobile and want to be able to get their email quickly and easily without having to hookup their laptop. Whether you are in the office or calling in on your mobile device, text-to-speech provides anytime, anywhere convenience.”
VoiceSupport™ NT’s text-to-speech is sold in port licenses and does not require additional hardware.
Internet Web Browser
Internet Web Browser enables Microsoft Web Server clients to play their voice messages over the Internet. A user simply goes to the VoiceSupport NT Web site address and clicks on a voice message. The message will be streamed down the Internet to a PC for quick playback using Microsoft’s Media Player.
“Internet Web Browser saves a company money on long distance charges by allowing the users to play their voice messages over the virtually free Internet,” said Ed Hansen, Director of Product Development for CTL.
Port Capacity
VoiceSupport™ NT now can expand to 60 voice ports. “We have had several requests from our customers for a larger port capacity system,” added Hansen. “VoiceSupport NT is now capable of handling thousands of users.”
A four port 250-hour VoiceSupport™ NT system with two ports of speech recognition and three seats of integrated desktop messaging has a suggested retail price of only $15,600.00.
