CTL Releases Wireless Unified Messaging for the Intel® Converged Communications Platform
Shelton, CT—February 22, 2002—CTL, Inc., a world leading provider of voice processing systems, is pleased to announce the release of its wireless unified messaging application, VoiceSupport™, for the Intel Converged Communications Platform. VoiceSupport is a unified messaging application that integrates with Microsoft Exchange/Outlook and Lotus Notes clients. The VoiceSupport wireless feature, CTL Unified Inbox, allows users to access their email inbox from their mobile phone when away from their desk.
The Intel Converged Communications Platform is an application-ready platform for small-to-medium business communications. Built with all the standards-based voice, IP, and data functionality you need, the platform enables cost-effective business communications today – and tomorrow. The platform is delivered through a network of Value Added Resellers (VARs).
“The combination of the CTL’s VoiceSupport and the Intel Converged Communications Platform provides a powerful solution for supporting customers with mobile employees,” said Jose Picazo, general manager of Intel’s Enterprise Communications Solutions division. “This combination enables customers to have access to important communications when and how they need it.”
VoiceSupport
VoiceSupport is a full-featured voice mail application that was engineered to operate with
Intel® Dialogic® CT Media™ server software, an integral component of the Intel Converged Communications Platform. Dialogic CT Media server software allows developers to create applications that are hardware independent and can co-exist with other vendor’s applications. VoiceSupport was also designed to integrate with the customer’s Exchange Server or Lotus Domino Server to allow LAN clients to access their voice messages from their desktop computer. Users can choose to have the messages played over their speakers or have the system call their telephone extension to play the messages privately over the handset.
VoiceSupport is one of the first applications to successfully complete the Application Interopability Test from G3 Nova, a third party testing company. The successful completion of this test provides customers with an assurance that VoiceSupport operates seamlessly on the platform and interacts well with other applications residing on the same unit.
“CTL is delighted to make VoiceSupport, our core unified messaging software product, available for the Intel Converged Communications Platform. Unified messaging is the key component of converged communications, and adds immense value to the platform.”
Wireless Feature
The CTL Unified Inbox enables unified messaging clients to have access to their Inbox from a wireless device. Using the Wireless Application Protocol (WAP), wireless users can access their email Inbox to retrieve and send email, access their Contact List and get their Calendar information. After viewing email, users have the option to forward, reply, save, or delete the message. Wireless users have the option of accessing their Inbox Contact List to search for phone numbers and email addresses. They may also access their Inbox Calendar to access upcoming Schedule information. Inbox information is viewed in real time, directly from the customer's email Server, without needing to export it to an off premise server. Therefore, the email stays in the customer's secure LAN environment. Data is transported via a secure tunnel connection with authentication and encryption through Wireless Transport Layer Security (WTLS) and Message Digest Authentication.
“The CTL Unified Inbox is simply a wireless extension of the office email Inbox,” said Ed Hansen, Director of Product Development for CTL. “Users no longer have to forward email to another address or worry about synchronizing email databases. This really simplifies the life of the mobile employee.”
“Users today are more mobile and want to be able to get their email and voice mail quickly and easily without having to hookup their laptop. Whether you are in the office or on your mobile device, VoiceSupport provides anytime, anywhere convenience.”
